PM takes trip down memory lane - Sydney Morning Herald(knitting instructions)
On her first street walk of the campaign, Ms Gillard received a warm reception from the voters of Boothby, the electorate her parents, John and Moira, still call home. Ms Gillard pressed the flesh at the local shopping centre Mitcham Square, running into David Key, whose sons Chris and Phillip were in the year below Ms Gillard at Unley High. Remarking how little things had changed since she was a kid, Ms Gillard reminisced about a locally renowned blue whale in the playground that still takes pride of place in the shopping centre. Her mum used to leave her job at the Sunset Lodge, a hostel for the aged in nearby Kingswood, to pick up her daughter, who'd be entertained by the elderly residents while she waited for Moira to finish work.
